New Castle County Head Start, Inc. (NCCHS) is a private, nonprofit organization that promotes the school readiness of children ages birth to 5 years and their families in New Castle County, Delaware. Our comprehensive preschool program is free to income-eligible families through funding from the Federal Department of Health and Human Services, the Delaware Department of Education, community partners, and private donors.
Our highly educated teachers and classroom team members work closely with children to help them gain the skills needed for long-term success in school—both academically and socially. We embrace diversity and welcome children and families of all backgrounds and abilities, including those with special needs.

The agency provides quality early care and educational programs for children ages birth to 5 years, as well as supportive family services in partnership with parents and their communities.
