Program Overview

New Castle County Head Start, Inc. is a federally funded comprehensive early childhood program designed to meet the social, emotional, health, nutritional and physical needs of eligible preschool age children from low-income families. Head Start teachers and staff members work closely with the students, and their families, to help them gain the skills needed for long-term success in school - both academically and socially.

In addition, Head Start offers support programs for the entire family covering a wide range of needs, including housing assistance, employment training, continuing education and parenting skills training opportunities. Head Start directs parents to local community resource organizations for additional services with the goal of helping families achieve self-sufficiency.
