Head Start is the nation's premier early education program. Since 1965, Head Start programs have provided comprehensive services to low-income children and their families as part of the War on Poverty. New Castle County Head Start, Inc. is funded through the Federal Department of Health and Human Services, the Delaware Department of Education and is a full member agency of the United Way of Delaware.

At New Castle County Head Start, Inc., child and family development is an on-going process for which the agency draws upon the expertise of its staff, administrative team, parent policy council, board of directors and community partners.

· To develop and maintain on-going support from the public and private sectors throughout New Castle County.

- To develop & maintain programs with all school districts in the County to better serve all children with emphasis on children with special needs.

New Castle County Head Start, Inc. is dedicated to enhancing the mental, social, emotional and physical well being of children and families in New Castle County, Delaware. The agency provides caring, and stimulating pre-school programs as well as supportive family services in partnership with parents and their communities.

New Castle County Head Start, Inc. shall become a model collaborative, multi-purpose agency promoting the individual growth and personal achievement of children and their families.
